Ready to Launch
a series of three stand-alone workshops to help you prepare your child to transition to adulthood

Dollar$ and Sense: Teaching Kids Money Management
When: Wednesday, November 1, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (1 evening)
Where: Georgian Suite (Entrance B) Edelbrock Centre, 30 Centre St.
Does your child think money grows on trees? This workshop, led by a certified financial planner, will help you teach your child financial literacy. Topics covered include: allowances, “good” and “bad” debt, psychology of money, education plans, and your role as family CFO. All workshop participants will receive a copy of Money and Youth, a guide to financial literacy.

Helping Students Make Career Decisions
When: Tuesday, November 7, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (1 evening)
Where: Georgian College, 22 Centennial Road, Room 124
This session is designed to give parents, caregivers, teachers and high school students the information and resources they need to not let money prevent someone from pursuing a post-secondary education. Facilitated by specialists from Georgian College’s Career and Employment Community Services. Free tuition grants go unclaimed each year. This workshop provides an overview of the many options for financial assistance, bursaries, and grants, including how to access them. An opportunity for questions and answers will also be provided.

When: Tuesday, November 28, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (1 evening)
Where: Georgian College, 22 Centennial Road, Room 124

Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll:
How to Talk to Kids About Tough Topics

When: Monday, November 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Westside Secondary School, 300 Alder Street
Are you struggling with how to talk to your children about some of these difficult subjects? You know how important it is to give them the information to make better decisions and healthier choices, but how can you present it so that they’ll listen…and take it seriously? How much should you share about your own experiences? Learn some ways to get the conversation started and keep it going and how to handle some of their tough questions.


Opioiod Drug Information Session
When: Tuesday, November 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Orangeville District Secondary School, 22 Faulkner St
The opioid crisis is a growing and evolving problem. Communities like ours are not immune.
Learn about the perils of opioid drug use. Speakers include:

  • Orangeville Police Services
  • Dufferin County Ambulance Services
  • an Addiction Outreach Counsellor from Family Transition Place
